What is a Discovery Call?
Are you a new author, or unsure of how to become an author, or perhaps even write or publish a book? The Discovery Call enables you to have a 15-minute pro bono virtual, online session with Red Arrow Media so that you can learn more about us and what we can offer you, and for a member of our team to assess and determine the next best steps for you and your project.

What is a Consultation?
A Consultation is a 1-hour virtual, online meeting with a member of the Red Arrow Media team. Perhaps you have a brilliant idea, but aren’t sure how to start writing a book, how to format a manuscript into a book, or how to write creatively to capture your intended audience. Perhaps you have a finished Work, but aren’t sure of the next steps in the publishing process, or you’re seeking counsel about writing inspiration, or information about the publishing world at large.
Whatever your questions regarding writing, self-publishing or traditionally publishing a book, we have answers. Regardless of whether you are merely in the idea stage or have a finished manuscript, we offer professional feedback and advice regarding your content, unique selling point, and market potential.
We would like you to receive as much advice as possible within this one-hour window, so we ask that you fill out “Manuscript Submission Form – Consultation” at least five business days prior to your scheduled Consultation and come prepared with your ideas, notes, and a sample chapter.
If you are already confident in your manuscript and would like to move forward with Red Arrow Media for publication consideration, please instead submit an application for a Preliminary Manuscript Review.

Preliminary Manuscript Review

What is a Preliminary Manuscript Review?
Applying for a Preliminary Manuscript Review is the first step to be considered for publication with Red Arrow Media.
While the Preliminary Manuscript Review is free of charge, we accept manuscripts for publication on a limited basis. Due to the number of applicants, if we are not initially engaged by reading your Chapter Samples, we do not commit to reading the entire Work. If you submit a manuscript for a Preliminary Manuscript Review and do not hear back from us within 90 days, we have not considered your Work for further review.
Please note that a manuscript will not be considered for publication until it is in its final form or has undergone the Advanced Full Manuscript process.
If, instead, you are only interested in receiving feedback and a thorough review of your Work, please skip this step and submit your entire manuscript for an Advanced Full Manuscript Review. In addition, we offer content development, editing, mentoring and coaching via the book writing eCourse, My Story is My Own.

Advanced full Manuscript review

What is an advanced full Manuscript Review?
The Advanced Full Manuscript Review (AFMR) is a thorough review and written evaluation of your Work according to literary and current publishing standards. A member of the Red Arrow Media team will read your manuscript (up to 50,000 words or 200 pages) and write a detailed report (8-15 pages) evaluating its strengths and weaknesses, recommended rewriting, editing, and potential publishing options based on your goals, vision and budget.
Included with the AFMR is a Consultation to discuss the formal review, and/or next steps with Red Arrow Media.
The AFMR is the second step to be considered for publication with Red Arrow Media. We created the review to help determine the strengths and weaknesses of your Work so that it has the potential to become the best version of itself, and to help determine how your Work may or may not fit into the current publishing market.
If you are interested in publication consideration, please do not submit your Work for an Advanced Manuscript Review if it has not already been previously approved for further consideration through the Preliminary Manuscript Review process.

What is a Ghostwriting?
What is a ghostwriter? Ghostwriters are professional writers that craft manuscripts according your “voice” and vision, ultimately becoming “you” to write your story from your perspective. Perhaps you have a compelling story to tell or a powerful message to convey, but you lack the writing skills to execute it with excellence and artistry. Our ghostwriter will take the time to interview you and learn your voice, collect the major content pieces from your notes and transcripts, build an outline, and write your manuscript for you. Our Red Arrow Media team of in-house and freelance writers and editors are professionals who have worked in the publishing industry with top-selling clients for nearly 20 years.
Working in tandem with our ghostwriters and under the direction of Vanessa, our editors not only help your manuscript rise to a publishable level, but also give creative and strategic feedback. We identify where additional content is needed to provide clarity, artistry, or support for your story or concepts. Our editors will work with you to refine and polish your book at each structural level, from chapter organization down to paragraph transitions, sentence structure, grammar, and punctuation.
Ghostwriting pricing starts at $150.00 per hour at a bare minimum of 175 hours, depending on the length and scope of the project. This price does not include research, interviews, content development, line-editing or copy-editing costs.
Ghostwriting services are provided at the discretion of Red Arrow Media.

A Word about Platform
In today’s market, an author’s platform is of utmost importance. This can be daunting for authors as most of us would rather stay holed up in our comfortable secret place like hobbits than be the ones presenting our writing to the public. Many authors are not public speakers, nor do we want or know how to deliver new and fresh content to social media and the Internet. Isn’t that what a marketing team and publicist are for?
Yes…, and unfortunately, no. The merit of a writer’s Work no longer matters. Gone are the days of patrons like the Medici’s in medieval Italy who sponsored the Renaissance, Works by Michelangelo and others. Today an author’s work is judged by his or her fame or platform.
Yes, you read that correctly.
In a discussion with a book agent who often secures seven-figure deals for authors, the agent stated, “I won’t even look at an author’s work unless he or she has at least 100,000 followers.”
Daunting? Absolutely.
But do “followers” actually indicate “sales”? Right again. Creating a bestselling work is a synergy of many factors coming together, including but not limited to: a well-written Work; exceptional design; the platform an author has (along with increased growth and traction of the platform); a large marketing budget and savvy marketing team that is up-to-date on the latest and ever-changing social media apps and Internet advertisements, and finally a publicist who has connections to media outlets.
This is not intended to discourage you from publication. However, out of respect for the current market, we request than an author meet the following requirements to be considered for publication through Red Arrow Media:
A minimum base of 20,000 followers via social media, newsletter, or connection with a patron or influencers who will partner in marketing.
$30,000+ Marketing & Publicity Budget (Marketing and publicity services are offered by third-party partners to clients who have been accepted as a Red Arrow Media authors, and thereafter on a project-by-project basis.)
An author must work just as diligently, if not more than a publisher to promote his or her Work.
The factors listed above speak of who you are as an author, and what you’re willing to do alongside a publisher to make sure your Work gets into the hands of its intended audience. They are the essentials, the bare minimum of a successful book marketing campaign.
